Group Financial Controller

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee all group financial reporting, including monthly management accounts, consolidated financial statements, and statutory reporting, ensuring accuracy, completeness and timeliness in accordance with HKFRS and applicable regulatory requirements


• Design, implement and continuously enhance the group’s financial control framework, including chart of accounts, documentation standards, internal control procedures and approval workflows


• Ensure strict compliance with:
  
  
  
  • Group policies and delegated authority limits
  
  
  • Banking covenants, bond/guarantee conditions and project financing requirements
  
  
  • Tax, company secretarial and other statutory obligations across all entities
  
  


• Establish and enforce robust processes for:
  
  
  
  • Project cost control, budget vs actual monitoring, and variance analysis
  
  
  • Cash flow planning and treasury management
  
  
  • Procurement and payment authorization, including mandated limits and segregation of duties
  
  


• Act as the “gatekeeper” ensuring that all transactions are properly documented, approved and recorded before funds are committed or disbursed


• Provide financial leadership and insight to senior management, including scenario analysis, risk assessments and recommendations on major contracts, tenders, claims and capital investments


• Lead and mentor the finance and accounting teams across group entities, embedding a culture of discipline, integrity and continuous improvement


• Liaise with external auditors, banks, tax advisers and other stakeholders, ensuring a smooth audit and strong relationships


• Champion digitalization and system improvements (e.g. ERP enhancements, reporting dashboards) to improve transparency, control and efficiency

Requirements

• Degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline, with professional qualification (HKICPA / ACCA / CPA Australia or equivalent)


• Minimum 10–15 years’ relevant experience, with at least 5 years in a senior finance/control role, ideally in construction, engineering, property development or related project�ased industries


• Deep knowledge of HKFRS, Hong Kong statutory requirements and best practices in internal controls, governance and risk management


• Proven track record and enforcing financial controls, including delegated authority limits, across multiple business units or subsidiaries


• Strong commercial mindset and the ability to “speak the language” of project managers, quantity surveyors and operations teams while maintaining a firm stance on compliance


• Hands�鰂n, detail�鰂riented, and willing to dive into the numbers and documentation, but also capable of presenting at Board and EXCO level


• Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills in both English and Chinese


• High integrity, resilience and a “no�onsense” attitude towards ethics and corporate governance
