We are looking for an exceptionally talented Product Designer, brimming with creative energy and passion for good design.

As a Product Designer, you’ll be responsible for designing Cathay’s branded merchandise and collaterals from ideation to sampling to final execution. You will be a fierce advocate for the Cathay customer and have a great retailing instinct, ensuring that we create product which demands attention, has a strong story to tell and of course sells. The role presents an incredible opportunity to make a significant mark on Cathay’s branded merchandise as well as your own product design career.

Sitting under the Brand & Content team you will be responsible for lighting up, amplifying and enhancing our brand through our merchandise.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the design and development of Cathay’s branded merchandise and packaging – covering a range of categories including aviation, home, travel, tech, fashion, food and beverage.
Identify and work with brand partners to develop one-of-a-kind, exclusive products.
Develop the positioning and narrative of the product that informs the brief in how we tell a compelling story about our products.
Brainstorm and conceptualise new product ideas, graphic design and application that deliver against core consumer insights and trends.
Coordinate product sample development with suppliers, factories to ensure final product meets requirements.

Requirements

3-4+ years’ experience in graphic design, packaging and/or product design
Bachelor’s degree in art, design or equivalent
Skilled in Adobe creative suite – Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop and 3D modelling software
Creative, curious and full of exciting ideas, with a natural alignment to a premium lifestyle aesthetic.
Experience in working with upcycled materials (i.e. metal, aluminium, fabric) is a plus
High attention to detail
Natural storyteller who can influence and shape how we communicate to our customer.
An absolute lover of travel and all that it represents.
Commercial minded – understand what appeals to the customer
Process-orientated, organised, and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously.
